The Omega's Heart by R.E. Butler

The Omega's Heart is a fantastic continuation in the Wilde Creek series.

Although The Alphas Heart continues to be my favourite book in the series i loved Jeremiah and Honeys story. R.E. Butler has managed to produce a fantastic shapeshifter world where each book is completely unique. Jer is an Omega because he is unable to fully shift and become his wolf. He has been disrespected by most members of his pack for his lower status. However, when Honey comes into his life he is such a fantastic Hero as he stops at nothing to keep his mate safe.

Honey is such a sweetheart. When she realises her father the alpha is plotting against her in some way she manages to run and escape her pack. She ends up in Wilde Creek and on the full moon she finds Jeremiah and despite his omega status, she mates with him and assures him she doesn't care about the fact he's a "non".

The writing style is fantastic and the pace of the book is just right. There is enough plot twists to keep the story moving, yet a good amount of the book is dedicated to the relationship between Jer and Honey and it really is a very sweet story. I also love how you get to see all the characters from the previous books in the series and find out what they are doing.

I can not wait for the next book in the series as I'm sure it will be completely different from the rest of the books in the series as it allows us to further explore this beautiful world R.E. Butler has created.

The Closer You Come by Gena Showalter

Gena Showalter writing a contemporary romance is pure genius.

In The Closer You Come we follow the Jase who has just been released from jail after nine years. A true cynic when it comes to believing in love, yet shows he has a heart of gold when it comes to his two best friends Beck and West. Their friendship does remind me of the wonderful bromance between Thane, Bjorn and Xerxes in Gena's Angels of the Dark series if those characters were placed in a non paranormal setting. They are a true family that have had their friendship solidified under terrible circumstances. Jase is truly the tortured bad boy in this book and is written beautifully.

Like all good romances every hero has his heroine, and here we have Brook Lynn who is kind and forgiving without being a pushover and she was absolutely perfect  Jase, even though they meet under less than desirable circumstances.  I can see why people would have a problem with the meet cute,  and it's not something i would normally like in a book. However, I think all the characters are very open about the fact that they have flaws and i feel that the circumstances in which they meet are completely redeemable. Most of that is due to how well written this story is written as everything moves at a believable pace, so nothing about Jase and Brook Lynn's relationship feels forced and they have to work hard to get pass their issues.

The Closer You Come definitely provides you with an entire spectrum of emotions, as i was laughing with Beck one minute and then crying for Jase the next. Jase is truly a heartbreaking Character but that makes Brook Lynn's determination to fight for him even more beautiful. Personally i would have liked Hope (I won't spoil who that is) to come into the book early then she did as i would have loved to have seen her interact more with Jase and Brook Lynn.

"I thought Strawberry Valley had become my home" he said "But it's you. You are my home, Angel. You're where i've put down my roots"

After reading The Closer You Come i can not wait for the next book in the series and what lies in store for out other two wonderful heartbreakers.

When I Fall by J. Daniels

The Alabama boys strike again and this time it's the turn of manwhore Reed.

Throughout this series I have always had a soft spot for Reed and have diligently waited for his story to be told. Let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. Reed, no matter how hard he tries can't help himself from falling for the completely charming and vulnerable Beth. Beth is such as sweetheart even though she has has a hard and difficult life, being raised by a crack addict mother and then finding herself in a mentally and emotionally abusive relationship. However, she is strong enough to open herself up to love and hold on tight when she meets the enigmatic playboy Reed.

“I’m still clinging to him like we’re on the Titanic and that bitch is sinking fast, and he’s holding onto me like he wants on that door that we all know would’ve fit more than one person.”

As much as Reed wants to run away from the way he feels about Beth he finds himself in a difficult position where he has to pretend Beth is his girlfriend when his ex comes back into town.  Although Reed fears love I don't think there is a person alive who wouldn't fall for Beth's charm, personality and amazing shoes. I think i would possibly give a limb for Beth's shoes, especially after seeing Reed's reaction to them.

"Maybe she knows i've pictured her in those boots while I live out my dirtiest fantasies, and that's why she's wearing them. Maybe she's trying to kill me slowly. What a fucking way to go though."

It's very rare that an author will get the development of a relationship as perfectly as J. Daniels has done in When I fall, with it's creative banter and realistic circumstances i can not wait for the next instalment in the Alabama Summer series.

Sweet Hope by Tillie Cole

Some books are worth their weight in gold, Sweet Hope is definitely one of them.

Sweet Hope is the final instalment of the Sweet Home series and it follows the story of Ally prince as she falls in love with the mysterious and reclusive artist Elpidio. This is a beautiful story of love, grief and second chances that had me glued to my kindle from beginning to end. Ally Prince is a great admirer of Elpidio's so when a position as the curator of his first official exhibit comes up, she makes sure she is the one to showcase his work. This showcase is conveniently going to be in Seattle where the rest of the Alabama group are all living.

Elpidio is a man who has committed many sins and he's paid for them in spades. He lives in a darkness that still haunts him. He's a tortured soul yet he finds his Salvation in Ally. One of my favourite things about this book is that the reader finds out the true identity of Elpi quite early on in the book and you see before your very eyes the villain of someone else's story become the misunderstood hero looking for redemption.

“You’re not the villain in this story, you’re the beautifully flawed hero. You’re the dark hero who has been sacrificing himself all along.”

Elpidio has possibly the hardest journey out of all the men in the Sweet Home series as he tries to overcome his past but Tillie has managed to make this one of the best love stories i have ever read with her flawless characters and poetic words. Sweet Hope is the type of book that will completely overwhelm you and leave you emotionally drained as you can not help but invest in the unique characters brought to life on the page.

Ally herself is such a pleasure to read as she is a strong independent heroine, yet she's vulnerable enough to admit to herself that she is lonely and wishes for the type of love her friends and family have found. When she finds it thats when Ally truly comes into her own, as she refuses to give up on the man she loves and isn't afraid to stand by her decisions regardless of what other people might say or think.

My only negative is that this is the last book in this series and i shall sincerely miss the characters i have come know and love. Although, there is an amazing Epilogue that gives the perfect send off to what can only be described as a perfect series.

“Months ago I was lost, drowning in a sea of guilt and fucking crippling sadness. Though I was fighting to break the surface, I couldn't ever get free. Every fucker I knew was watching me from the sideline, letting me drown, but not her. Not la mia luce. I thought she might throw me a lifeline, or at least try to pull me through. What I didn't expect her to do was jump in and tread water beside me… Waiting, just waiting until I was ready to follow her to the shore."
